Decrepit Youths: ‘We have 4 new songs recorded and mixed and it’s definitely our best body of work!’

We sat down to have a quick chat with the rising UK alt metal stars Decrepit Youths and their latest EP, their plans for the future and the current state of music. Check it out below!

How would you describe your sound?

Alt/Rock with a blend of Electronic elements.

Is there a particular theme around the EP? Or is it more individual stories?

Each song has its own unique indentity, but all pack the same punch, distortion and high octane energy.

What is the writing process like for you?

We start with a demo which can usually begin from a guitar riff or a vocal idea. The song ‘Black Dove’ was created around a Hungarian choir vocal sample which you can hear the beginning. Then we take the song to our producer who builds the track up again from the ground up.

Have you already got more songs in the bank/written?

We have 4 new songs recorded and mixed and it’s definitely our best body of work!

Are you planning on sticking with the EP formula? Seems like such a big decision to do an album these days!

We are mostly focusing on singles actually. Seems like this is the best method for up and coming bands these days and focusing on promoting each song with content on social media.

What would you say the scene is like currently for UK metal?

You have bands like Bring Me The Horizon holding the torch for UK rock and bringing it into the mainstream which is good for everyone. We need to see more bands being in the charts.

Busy year planned for shows?

We have few festivals, and we are competing for a spot at Hardwick Hall festival. We are also planning on a few headline shows.

You seem pretty good on social media, any advice you’d give to a band just starting up about it?

Social media is everything. Being truthful, We have only just really started pushing our socials and becoming “content creators”. It’s hard work but sadly the music industry has changed now and artists have to focus on every aspect of being an artist, not just being music creators.

Do you have a dream tour lineup you’d want to be a part of?

Would have been great to tour with Motley Crue. They are wild lol
